Our mission
A mission for safer homes
Cooktop Safety was founded on a deep commitment to safety and a personal understanding of the risks of unattended cooking. Traditional smoke alarms and fire extinguishers are reactive, they only do something after a fire has already started. We set out to build predictive technology that helps prevent fires before they can ignite, and gives families genuine peace of mind.
The problem
Cooking is the leading cause of home fires
Distraction, multitasking, fatigue, and cognitive impairment are often the root cause, and the risk is heightened for aging adults and in senior care settings.
Our solution
Predictive fire prevention
The CTS Smart Kitchen Sensor mounts above the stove and uses thermal sensing, not a camera, to read the heat coming off the pots and pans. It analyzes those heat patterns in real time to detect and predict hazards, and warns anyone nearby with voice alerts, alarms, and lights. Paired with the CTS Power Cutoff, it shuts off power to the stove on its own before a fire can start.
Our founder
From caregiving to innovation
Cooktop Safety began not with a business idea, but with a personal experience. As a caregiver to aging parents, I saw how new risks crept into their home, and I kept looking for something that could give peace of mind without taking away their independence. Smoke alarms and fire extinguishers only react once a fire has started. I wanted technology that could predict and prevent a dangerous situation before it could escalate. That mission became Cooktop Safety.
My background is in predictive and preventative technology, with more than two decades in IoT across AgeTech, PropTech, and the connected kitchen. As a contributor to multiple tech startups and successful exits, I have focused on AI and sensor development, and that is the expertise our team brings to the CTS Smart Kitchen Sensor.
