The CTS Smart Stove Sensor mounts above the stove and reads the heat coming off the pots and pans. As the stove heats, its lights turn from warm to hot, and when cooking turns dangerous it sounds an alarm and announces what is wrong. Paired with the CTS Stove Power Cutoff, it shuts off power to the stove on its own before a fire can start.

What the lights mean
While the stove is heating, the lights turn from yellow as it warms to red as it nears an unsafe temperature. They are off when the stove is cool, and gently wave when someone is present.

Pulsing red
Power has been shut off. Press the button to restore power once it is safe.

When any of these happens, an alarm sounds, the lights flash red, and a voice announces which alert it is, so someone can step in.
With the CTS Stove Power Cutoff
It shuts the stove off on its own
When the CTS Stove Power Cutoff is installed, the stove is shut off on its own if an alert goes unanswered, or remotely from the CTS Mobile App with CTS Essentials Plus. It stays off until someone restores power, so nothing turns back on by itself.
Shut off, not locked
One press of the button on the sensor restores power, right at the stove, with no breaker to reset. Power comes back only when someone presses it, so the stove never turns itself back on.
Disabled and locked
A locked stove cannot be powered on at the sensor. Unlock it first in the CTS Mobile App, then press the button on the sensor to restore power.

Does the CTS Smart Stove Sensor detect unattended cooking?
Yes. Unattended cooking is one of the main things it detects. If the stove is left on with no one present for too long, it warns with a spoken alert and flashing lights, and with the CTS Stove Power Cutoff it shuts the stove off on its own. The timing adapts to the heat: a hot pan gets a faster warning, a gentle simmer gets more leeway.
Does it use a camera?
No. The CTS Smart Stove Sensor uses thermal sensing only. It reads heat, not images, and never records video or audio.
How is it different from motion-based or timer-based stove shut-offs?
Motion and timer systems act on presence alone, so they can cut power to a long, low-heat simmer just because you left the room. The CTS sensor judges risk from the stove's actual temperature as well as presence, so it catches genuinely unattended cooking with far fewer false shut-offs.
Does it wait for smoke, or warn before?
It warns before. The sensor reads the rising temperature and alerts you as the stove approaches an unsafe point, rather than reacting to smoke after a fire has already started the way a smoke alarm does.
