Frequently Asked Questions

How does the CTS Smart Sensor work?

Our sensor uses a patent-pending advanced AI analyzes thermal data in real-time to detect high-risk scenarios, such as unattended cooking or cookware reaching dangerous flashpoint temperatures, before smoke or fire starts.

What happens if the sensor predicts a fire risk?

If the sensor detects a potentially unsafe situation, it will alert you with a clear voice message and flashing lights. If the situation is not fixed, it will automatically turn off power to the cooktop or range to help prevent accidents.

Will the sensor trigger from regular cooking?

No. The CTS Smart Cooking Sensor is able to differentiate between normal high-heat cooking and dangerous or unattended cooking that lead to fires.

Does the CTS Smart Cooktop Sensor have a camera?

No, our device uses thermal imagery for non-intrusive presence monitoring. There is no camera, so your privacy is always protected.

How can I turn my stove back on?

Once everything is safe, you can easily restore power to the stove by pressing the button on the sensor.

Does the sensor work without Wi-Fi?

Yes. The core safety interventions, including the local audible alarm and automatic power cut-off, function entirely offline. Certain features won't work without Wi-Fi like device updates, mobile alerts, and remote shutdown.

What types of cooktops does the sensor work with?

The CTS Smart Sensor works with electric radiant, coil, and induction cooktops or ranges. A version for gas cooktops will be available in 2026.

Can I install the Cooktop Safety system myself?

Absolutely. The CTS system is a DIY, plug-and-play solution that can be installed in less than 15 minutes. The sensor mounts with 3M Command strips and the Power Cut-Off fits standard North American 4-prong 240V outlets. No electrician or special tools are required for installation.

Where should the sensor be installed?

The sensor should be mounted on the wall behind your stove, 12-16 inches above your cooktop.

What are the electrical requirements for the CTS Power Cut-Off?

The power cut-off module requires a standard North American 4-prong 240V wall receptacle. It is currently compatible with radiant, coil, and induction electric ranges.

Can the dashboard handle multiple properties?

Yes. The Total Protection Dashboard is specifically designed for property managers to monitor multiple units, view safety analytics, and manage geofencing alerts across an entire community.

Is there a monthly subscription fee?

Basic safety features, including local alarms and automatic power cut-off, are free with the Home Essentials plan. Additional features are part of other plans but come with a subscription.
